ZBC School Feeding program, Taity, Baringo County, Kenya

Providing food is crucial in encouraging children to attend school, particularly in the Pokot region, known for its frequent droughts and famine. With low rain levels and a culture deeply rooted in pastoralist traditions, the Pokot people often find themselves embroiled in conflicts such as cattle rustling with neighboring tribes like the Turkana, Samburu, and Maasai.

Feeding programs play a vital role in providing children with a lifeline of nourishment, which in turn motivates them to pursue education. By investing in education, we aim to catalyze a transformation in Pokot society, fostering a shift towards greater productivity and positive life outcomes.

We firmly believe that education, holds the key to addressing deep-seated issues such as cattle rustling, violence, female genital mutilation (FGM), and high mortality rates resulting from inadequate maternal healthcare. Over time, education can reshape mindsets and contribute to long-term societal change
